A fast-growing flooring supplier from the Midlands has more than doubled in size after taking the decision to move to majority online sales 14 months ago.
Factory Direct Flooring supplies wood, vinyl and laminate to retailers, commercial sites and residential customers and has a retail store in Hinckley. Since moving to majority online sales, the 32-year-old company has seen such growth that it has expanded its Nuneaton warehouse to 25,000 square foot in order to keep up with demand.
Paul Hambidge, founder and managing director, said: “We have grown from just one distribution warehouse eight years ago to just completing our fourth warehouse extension on our site of over 3,500 square feet this year, which is quite an incredible achievement.
“We noticed a few years ago that to secure our company and future, we needed to move to online sales. And while many people criticised us for this as we didn’t decide to open another store, we have not only increased our business but also the number of people we employ and have seen nothing but success.”
According to Mr Hambidge, the decision to target online sales was further supported by Factory Direct flooring innovating their own product lines. He said: “We are an honest business which supports our suppliers and manufacturers, working with them to create the very latest in flooring technology which are fast becoming market leaders. And because we work with them and there are no middle men, this also means that our customers have the very best price too, which is just as important as high quality.”
