F. Ball Appoints Head of Training To Promote Best Practice in Flooring Installation

F. Ball and Co. Ltd. has appointed Tim Green as head of training, responsible for the company’s industry-leading training courses delivered through the F. Ball Centre of Excellence, which launched in 2021.

As head of training, Tim will promote best practice in flooring installation by devising and delivering training courses at the F. Ball Centre of Excellence, including maintaining links within the industry to gauge requirements. He will also support external training providers, such as floorcovering manufacturers and retailers, as well as assist the F. Ball sales and marketing teams with product demonstrations at wholesaler trade day events and exhibitions.

The new ‘Centre of Excellence’ offers free training for all flooring professionals, including specialist courses for both apprentices and seasoned professionals, covering subfloor preparation and floorcovering installation through practical demonstrations and exercises using high-performance F. Ball products. It was created by transforming and reconfiguring the training and demonstration facility at the company’s Staffordshire headquarters, and simultaneously overhauling course content to offer more dynamic, hands-on learning experiences.

Tim brings nearly 20 years’ experience in the flooring trade to the role, including managing his own flooring business and six years teaching floorcovering installation to apprentices at an FE college. Most recently, he was in charge of training at a leading floorcovering manufacturer. During this time, he used his extensive knowledge of the flooring industry and floorcovering installation to assist with new product development and site support, as well as produce product literature, installation videos and technical manuals.

Commenting on his appointment, he said: “Flooring professionals need to keep up to date with the latest advances in subfloor preparation and floorcovering installation in order to meet increasing customer expectations, so I take this responsibility seriously. My aim is to build on the existing standing of the Centre of Excellence. Part of the challenge will be keeping up with growing demand for courses.”

“I’m passionate about the trade, and I pride myself on having the latest knowledge and being at the forefront of industry developments. I’m also really excited to work for the market leader in flooring installations products – there aren’t many companies that I could join without feeling like I had taken a step back.”
